Wesuwe Meadow Sage

Meadow sages are very popular perennials that reliably produce dark blue to purple spikes atop the broad-leaved, aromatic foliage. Plant this salvia in full sun and average soil, and water enough to establish the root system. They will produce flowers all summer long, but may need spent flower spikes to be clipped. The pungent-smelling leaves repel deer. Compared to the popular 'May Night', the spikes of this cultivar are taller and more of deep purple with red-black bracts. It is named after a city in Germany and is also sold as the cultivar 'Vesuvius'.
