Rococo Parrot Tulip

'Rococo' is deep cardinal red with featherings of green and purple on the outside of the petals. It is a member of the Parrot tulip classification, based upon the extravagant flower colors and heavy rich textured petals. As with all tulips, plant this one in the fall, in well- drained, moisture-retentive soils and in full sun; protect it from squirrels and chipmunks. Protection can be as simple as inter-planting with ornamental onions or mechanical exclusion through an application of netting over the beds once the bulbs are planted.
