Chinese Ironweed

Chinese ironweed is a tall perennial that bears masses of purple flowers with hot pink eyes in the late summer and early fall. The leaves are long and serrated and remain green throughout the season. It has a tall spreading upright habit reaching a height of around seven feet and a width of four feet so it performs well at the back of a border where its height and the late season pop of color can be appreciated. It can be pruned in early summer to reduce height.
