My work aims to increases the availability of native seeds. To this end I employ approaches to boost seed collections by expanding our understanding of species natural history. Namely, the geographic distribution, extents, and census sizes of populations, as well as the temporal distributions of their life-history events (phenology). I use a data science framework to model these events using data from museum specimens, field surveys, and citizen science initiatives. I am also interested in conventions for comparing landscapes – especially restoration sites - to reference sites using a spatially explicit statistics and state-and-transition models.
